The Pac-12 is using a tarp to cover up empty seats at its title game.
With little expectation of filling the 68,500 seats at Levi's Stadium for the championship game between No. 14 Stanford and No. 11 Southern California, the upper deck had a tarp covering up several sections.
Last year's game between Colorado and Washington drew just 47,118 fans for the game. Attendance for the game has been hurt because of the 5 p.m. local time start on Friday nights.
The Friday game makes it harder on fans who want to travel from outside the area to the game and the start time is difficult on local fans.
But commissioner Larry Scott says the television partners prefer playing the game on Friday, where it draws significantly more viewers than on Saturday when it would go against title games from other major conferences.
