Georgia Tech and Tennessee kept everyone guessing until the start of the game before revealing their starting quarterbacks.

In a bit of a surprise, the Yellow Jackets went with junior TaQuon Marshall over Matthew Jordan, the backup to Justin Thomas the last two years and the quarterback who led Georgia Tech to an upset victory at Virginia Tech last season when Thomas was injured.

Tennessee gave the nod to junior Quenten Dormady over redshirt freshman Jarrett Guarantano.

Both teams went into the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game with big holes to fill at quarterback. Thomas started at Georgia Tech the last three years, while the Volunteers had to replace Joshua Dobbs, who started 35 games over the last four years.

Georgia Tech also announced that third-year sophomore Shawn Davis is handling the kicking duties, having beaten out freshman Brenton King. In addition, the Yellow Jackets are without A-back Clinton Lynch, who was held out with one of those all-encompassing "lower body" injuries.
